Biomedical engineering is the application of engineering principles and techniques to medicine. It focuses on the engineering of biological processes and systems in general, includes biomedical engineering and agricultural engineering, food engineering and biotechnology.Biomedical engineering could be the indirect practitioners ,not medical practitioners, as the technologies and techniques they develop co-determine medical practice.

As far as Im concerned, the biomedical engineering shouldnt be used to improve the human body. As we know, the normal lifetime of a person is 70-90 years  long now.  If the technology could make this time period more longer, people will die slowly and there will be more and more human beings on the earth at the same time. Once the present resource cannot support such a population, The society will come to a mess. The continuity of human civilization will face to an unprecedented challenge. That is what Im worrying about. Whats more. As it is still on researching ,we dont know whether the biomedical technology will cause any negative effects to humans body. If so, nobody can do response for this issue. However, compared with the traditional medical technology, biomedical engineering have many advantages.It could be more efficient and easier to affect the virus. This kind of modern technology could be used to solve some hard-to-heal increases like AIDS or cancers. So we can develop the biomedical engineering  to cure some body issues, but do not plan to keep people living longer. Because the main  point of our civilization is transfer but not forever. What we need to do is to let the future generation perform better.

  1. It's really interesting because, even though we have had disastrous wars and viruses that have wiped out much of the human race since the 1920's, humanity as a whole has still increased (and is still increasing) in size. I wonder if advancements in the medical field have a lot to do with this. Thank you for sharing your thoughts, Yifan.
