Journal 2---How do you think about the prosthetic body part?

Summary
Biomedical engineering is a new subject between medical engineering and traditional engineering on application and ethics.

Journal 2
As technology developed, human’s life has been lengthened with a prosthetic body part. But there is a argument come out. Do these people can be considered fully human? My answer is yes. The critical character between humans and animals is the brain. Humans could think independently but animal not. That means it is still human if the brains has not been transplanted. So some people are fully humans although some parts of his or her body are replaced by a prosthetic part.
I think that there is not necessary to clarify the humans who have a non-human body part or not. What I mean is that there is not affective to identify an individual with a non-human body part. The “Blade Runner”, the fastest man on no legs, is a powerful example. He has made a momentous appearance at the sporting event in Daegu, South Korea because of his carbon fiber prosthetic legs. Does anyone consider his prosthetic body part affects the identity of the individual? The answer is absolutely not.
Although there is no specific limit to define how many prosthetic items a person can have his/her body, I think he/she is not a human until his/her brains has died or been replaced. All the items could be prosthetic but the brain since it is the most critical sign of humans. If someone’s brain is got or replaced, do you think he is still him? If someone’s hand is prosthetic, do you think he is not him at all? In a word, every one has his/her right to determine whether using a fake body or not. We should not make a explicit limit to it.

  1. I almost think that those with prosthetic body parts understand more what it is to be human because of their handicap. They don't take what they have for granted, and often have developed strong character if they are able to come to terms with what has happened to them.

    Great example. Thanks for sharing.

On a more administrative note, would be able to change your name on here to English characters? It would certainly aid your instructor in determining who you are :).
