Chris Urmson is a head of engineering that study self-driving car in Google. He believes that self-driving vehicles will play a important role in the future when it applied in normal life extensively. It can reduce the accidents, bring people who don’t know how to drive to everywhere they want, as well as solve the traffic congestion.
Although the self-driving cars have so many advantages, they also faced challenges and had negative elements. One of challenges that we need to consider is self-driving technology itself. It consists with many digital data. The vehicles used high-resolution maps, camera and radar sensors, these all need to emitted through digital data. That is, if the data has something wrong in the rout of delivered or it didn’t deliver on time. It might be waste the time, even caused the accidence. The self-driving vehicles also faced another challenge when they popular in normal life in the future. On the one hand, it will make people skill atrophy. On the other hand, the vehicles will always encounter the accidents on the road unavoidably. If there are most cars are the self-driving cars, some masters of self-driving cars might to escape from the accident. That will caused there are no people to responsible for the accident and caused the social unrest.
In my opinion, I don’t prefer to drive these automated vehicles. Because I have already known how to drive the car, so I don’t want to loss my driven skill. With the science and technology, people always want to use the inventions or new advanced technology instead of people themselves. However, the people who lost are the fundamental thing generally in fact.
Therefore, when we can see self-driving cars everywhere, they will bring the convenient to us, and they can take people who cannot drive to everywhere that they want to go. They also faced many challenges to overcome. How to find out the balance of technology and artificial is the important thing either.
